Wise Men: Blood and Sand & Kentucky Buck |
We were having a pretty killer night that started out with
lobster rolls from Luke's, an
arepa from Caracas Arepa Bar To Go, and
drinks from Angel's Share. But we weren't quite ready to call it a night, so we walked down to
Wise Men. Despite what the name would lead you to believe, this low profile little spot is actually owned by three women.
We were able to snag a couple of seats in the back under this rather intriguing meteor light fixture and ordered a round of drinks:
KENTUCKY BUCK
Bourbon, Strawberry, Ginger, Lime, Bitters $14
BLOOD AND SAND
Blended Scotch, Cherry Heering, Sweet Vermouth, Orange $13

The drinks were good, the decor was very... interesting, as exhibited by the above. There was a DJ spinning providing a hip ambience, but you were still able to chat. It's not exactly a speakeasy, but it's a pretty inconspicuous doorway so this is a nice if you are looking for a place late on a friday night in the East Village that isn't obnoxiously packed.
