Penelope: Delicious Cinnamon Bun |
Unfortunately, we were still facing an 1hr 15min wait. On the plus side, this is one of the first weekends where the weather is actually trending towards spring, so we did a nice sunny, brisk walk down Park Ave to grab a cup of coffee at Gregory's while we waited. It was less than an hour before we got our call and we hurried back to be promptly seated by the friendly hosts and greeted by our equally sweet waitress.
We ordered our coffees (which were served with adorable little teaspoons) and a Delicious Cinnamon Bun to start. I also asked her advice on choosing between their famous Nutella French Toast and the Punkin' Waffles. She told me this is the last week the Punpkin' Waffles are being served because they are a seasonal item, which clinched the deal for me. The waffles were hearty and served with toasted cinnamon-cardamom walnuts, dried cranberries, warm baked apples, and appled butter. Ohhhh man, that appled butter goodness!
The Mr tried to solve my brunch Sophie's choice by offering to order the Nutella French Toast for himself, but I absolutely insisted that he ordered the Penny Egg Sandwich. There's nothing he loves better than a good breakfast sandwich, especially one served on a buttery croissant.
I absolutely loved our meal here - excellent food in a quaint setting with warm staff, this place has it all. I hope to be back very soon to try their famous Nutella French Toast!!
