De Santos |
Tonight I was invited to try
De Santos, a contemporary American restaurant located in a West Village brownstone that was once home to the likes of Janis Joplin and Bob Dylan. My initial impression after walking in was "lovely". Exposed brick and rustic wood were counterbalanced with cherry blossoms and butterflies to make it equal parts masculine and feminine.
We were seated in the main dining room overlooking the year-round, indoor patio. Beyond that was their seasonal garden, which -sadly- was a bit too chilly for tonight.

Appetizers |
Our meal stared with the Beef Carpaccio with Potato Gnocchi and Truffle Cream, Tuna Tartare with Avocado and Soy Ginger Vinaigrette, & Truffle Macaroni Mac and Cheese. I'll give you a hot second to guess which one was my favorite. Yep. Put the words "truffle" and "mac & cheese" together and you've got a winner every time.

Scallops |
For my entree, I selected the Scallops served over Mushroom Risotto served with Parsnip Chips. This was definitely a fall take on scallops, it was reminiscent of a stew.
|
Desserts |
For dessert, we were treated to a trio of delights: Chocolate Lava Cake, Bananas Foster, & Dulce de Leche Crepes.

Call Me, Maybe? |
And now a gratuitous shot of the old-timey telephone down by the bathrooms. This is downstiars near the "Janis" room which used to be a Speakeasy. See? I told ya it was an historic building.
*My meal was provided by the restaurant as part of a Press Dinner.
