6th Avenue & 21st Street |
After a long day, we wanted a light meal and happened to be walking down 6th Avenue (or Avenue of the Americas if you will) so I suggested we stop in to
Markt. Since we've moved to the city over a year and a half ago, I've been envisioning a romantic dinner over a pot of mussels and they have a great reputation.
We decided to take advantage of what is sure to be one of the last warm, summer nights and sat outside. We ordered a couple of glasses of rose and the raw oyster sampler. The oysters were incredible. There was only one selection that we weren't crazy about, making this some of the best oysters we've ever had.

Since we were drinking wine, it seemed only fitting to get the Moules au Vin Blanc (Mussels in White Whine Sauce). The mussels were some of the best I've had, but I came to the startling realization that I enjoy the idea of mussels much more than I actually enjoy eating them. Oh well, The Mr thoroughly enjoyed them, and both of us enjoyed the Belgian fries.

A fantastic dinner overall. Something about this restaurant is quintessential 'New York City' to me, so if you're a seafood lover you should definitely stop on by.
